The training I received at the Academy was difficult and at times harsh, but those who survived the experience emerged as real musicians.

Liszt Academy - three-time Red Dot Award Winner

14 August 2017

The image spot of the Bartók World Competition & Festival to be held this fall for the first time has been recognised with one of the most prestigious international communication design prizes. With this prize, the number of creativity awards acknowledging the event paying tribute to Bartók’s memory organised by the Liszt Academy has come to three.

This time the image spot - released in December 2016 - was honoured in the category ’Communication Design 2017’, following the Silver Hugo Prize presented at the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival and the Silver Blade Award (which recognised the image of the Bartók World Competition and Festival).  The international jury selected the best candidates out of 8000 applications from over 50 countries; the award ceremony will take place, as usual, in Berlin in October.

The image spot was made in synergy with the 45-second image spot of Liszt Academy Music Ad Infinitum – both focusing on Bartók. The camera accompanies a young musician leaving the Liszt Academy while listening to Bartók’s original recording of Allegro Barbaro. The film plays and contrasts timelines, real and imaginary images and finally, by expanding all limits ad infinitum (until infinity), the protagonist encounters Bartók himself, and for a fracture of a second, the composer even glimpses at us from the screen. The creators were: Imre Szabó Stein, Dávid Géczy, was Balázs Dobóczy. While the musicians acting in the spot film were the students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
