In spring 2021, Liszt Kidz Academy, the programme series for young people organized by Liszt Academy, deals with the superheroes of music, those figures with remarkable, out-of-the-ordinary powers, and about whom even the rest of the profession can only say: oddballs! In March, we check out what is going on in the heads of a pianist and an organist to learn how they go about creating music. There and then. Because the topic this month is improvization. One of Hungary’s most influential organists, László Fassang, shows from the classical direction, while the youthful and very busy jazz pianist Áron Tálas reveals from the jazz direction, what it is like when a musician composes a piece of music on the spot just from a motif he hears for the first time. The audience chooses something and the artists improvize on it: sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, let’s see...
