Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra are made up of the alumni of the Verbier Festival Orchestra, whose principal conductor since August 2007 is Gábor Takács-Nagy. They have worked in partnership with an impressive list of the world’s best conductors and soloists. Members of the ensemble continue their careers with the world’s leading orchestras, including in Boston, Berlin, Chicago, London, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, Moscow, San Francisco and Vienna. Through their concerts organized globally, the chamber orchestra function as the ambassador of the Verbier Festival. This performance allows us to welcome as soloist the Portuguese-Swede Maria João Pires, pianist, one of the best interpreters of Mozart of the past several decades. The recital features the master’s D minor piano concerto and the D major ‘Haffner’ symphony plus Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major.
