Kenny Barron, Dado Moroni (piano)

Prepare yourself for a rare, double piano jazz parade! The elegant, sensitive, rhythmically always exciting Kenny Barron ranks as one of the greats of the genre. He was inducted as a Jazz Master over ten years ago. His career spans eras; sixty years ago he was contracted as a kid by Dizzy Gillespie. Stan Getz was one of his most important partners, currently he plays most frequently with Dave Holland, but young bloods like Lionel Loueke and Gretchen Parlato are also extremely proud to be able to jam alongside him. The Italian Dado (Edgardo) Moroni has been not only one of Barron’s favourite pianist duo partners since 2006, but Ray Brown also invited him to play on the album Some of My Best Friends Are. His style is similar to Barron, perhaps differentiated by a greater density of play and a special left hand. He only started learning music formally when at secondary school and his international career took off soon thereafter. In 1989 he moved to America. Nowadays he splits his time between the two countries.
