Clarinet-Saxophone Festival

Nicolas Arsenijevic, Baptiste Herbin (saxophone)

The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music organizes the Klaxo 2022 clarinet-saxophone festival between 12–15 March. At this international gathering on the Solti Hall stage of the Liszt Academy, we can welcome the most significant clarinettists and saxophonists on the classical and jazz scene, in addition to which there is an exhibition of instruments, master classes and a teacher extension training programme to further enhance this four-day series. Instrument makers such as Buffet Crampon, Selmer, Schwenk & Seggelke and Yamaha take part in the organization of the event. Daily tickets are available for the festival. Two saxophonists introduce themselves to the Budapest audience at the opening concert. Nicolas Arsenijevic graduated from the Paris Conservatoire in 2016; he primarily focuses on classical and contemporary music but is also involved in various folk music and theatrical productions. He regularly gives concerts in Paris and all over Europe as a member of, for instance, Quatuor Laloy, Saxback Ensemble, Kosmopolitevitch Orkestar and Oct’opus Ensemble, besides which he is a professor of saxophone at Aulnay-sous-Bois Conservatoire, Conservatoire de Versailles Grand Parc, and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. Nicolas Arsenijevic is the artist of the Selmer company and since 2013 he has been assisted by the Cziffra Foundation. The two albums he has released so far feature arrangements of Brahms chamber works and contemporary tracks. Baptiste Herbin also studied in the French capital and he quickly became an outstanding figure in French jazz. In 2013 he released his first album, which was immediately nominated for the Victoire du Jazz Prize. He has worked together with top artists like Keith Brown, Aldo Romano, Jean-Charles Richard, Stéphane Guillaume, André Ceccarelli and Vincent David, but he has also appeared alongside Charles Aznavour. Between concert performances, he manages to find time to hold master classes all over the world.
