...a country (Hungary) whose population, even today, is barely over ten million has produced so many musicians and so much outstanding music. I am grateful for having been born and trained there.

Sir Georg Solti

Chamber Music - Tuned for Grand Hall 2020/21

The performance of the Les Vents Français wind ensemble promises to be a real curiosity in the chamber music series of the season, since its members - Emmanuel Pahud, François Leleux, Paul Meyer, Gilbert Audin and Radovan Vlatković – are all world renowned soloists. Their programme - complemented with the performance of pianist Eric le Sage - features 150 years of wind chamber music ranging from Mozart to Hindemith. At the other concerts of the season ticket, globally acclaimed artists from concert halls around the world will perform together with Hungarian musicians. In addition to Daniel Hope and Claudio Bohórquez, Péter Nagy will also take the stage, and their Brahms evening to be held in October, will feature a selection of pieces from the early and the later, more mature years of the composer. László Fenyő and his Korean partner, competition winning musician Jiyeong Mun, have also selected from the works of the Hamburg-born master; the closing piece of their concert will be a Richard Strauss sonata, which the composer finished at the age of 19. Dóra Kokas, Maxim Rysanov and Vadim Kholodenko form an unusual chamber music ensemble; in addition to 19th-century transcriptions, they will also play trios specifically written for viola, cello and piano.
