Changes to Liszt Academy concerts between 1 and 15 October

28 September 2020

Dear Concertgoers,

At our concerts since early September, we have found that our audiences wish to be safe and that they understand and abide by the precautions that we have introduced for everyone’s safety. We wish to express our gratitude for your confidence and co-operation, hoping to continue along the same lines in the future.

We wish to uphold the highest standards of safety at our concerts, and we are therefore introducing the following changes to concerts to be held in the first half of October:

  • On 1 October, the concert by Gergely Kovács and the Orion Trio at 19:00 in Solti Hall will have no interval. For details on the revised programme, please consult our website.

  • There will be a change to the artists and programme for the 2 October concert within the ‘Organ in the Centre Autumn 2020' season ticket: the concert to be held by British-based organist David Titterington will be postponed until next year in view of uncertainties related to travel. The event will feature young talents Balázs Giczi and Alan Zsilka. Tickets and season tickets already purchased remain valid.

  • On 3 and 4 October, the Sunday night concert within the three-part series by Alexander Melnikov and the Cuarteto Casals will have no interval, and therefore the programme will be changed for all three concerts. For the revised programme, please consult our website.

  • On 4 October, the Wiener Sängerknaben will perform at 17:00 and 19:30 without an interval and with a shorter programme. Tickets previously purchased remain valid for both concerts, as the split is only intended to ease overcrowding in the hall. Please consult our website for the revised programme.

  • On 6 October, we are holding a new concert at 19:30 called the Chamber Music Workshop of the Liszt Academy featuring chamber performances by students at the Academy in their final year and our fresh graduates. Register for free tickets online or at the Academy box office. Please consult our website for the programme.

  • On 6 October, the piano concert by László Borbély at 19:00 in Solti Hall will have no interval. Please consult our website for the programme.

  • On 11 October, Julia Lezhneva and the Venice Baroque Orchestra will perform without an interval at 17:00 and 19:30. Tickets previously purchased remain valid for both concerts as the split is only intended to ease overcrowding in the hall. Please consult our website for the revised programme.

  • The programme and artists for our chamber concert in the Grand Hall on 15 October have been changed: in view of travel uncertainties, foreign-based Péter Frankl will be replaced by Dénes Várjon as chamber partner to András Keller and Miklós Perényi. Please consult our website for the partly changed programme.

Please follow the regular updates on our website: since ticket cancellations are expected, new tickets to these concerts may become available for resale.

We plan to provide information on programmes in the second half of October at a later date.
