I am not exaggerating when I say that, whatever I achieved as a musician, I owe more to Leó Weiner than to anyone else. ... To me, he remains an outstanding example of what a musician should be.

Sir Georg Solti

Jazz and Folk Music Department in Weimar

29 October 2013

Liszt Academy teachers and six students took part in the workshop-week of the jazz department of the Franz Liszt Hochschule für Musik in Weimar.

Ágnes Lakatos and Tibor Csuhaj-Barna, Jazz Department teachers of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, together with four jazz students – Georgina Kanizsa, Dániel Vikukel, Márk Miskolczi, Tamás Hidász, and two folk music majors – Klára Csernok and Gábor Dragony, were visiting the Liszt School Of Music Weimar between October 21-28, 2013. Members of the Donny McCaslin Quartet held classes and workshops in the first half of the week-long event and the Liszt Academy teachers in the second half. The Hungarian delegation also introduced itself with a concert performance. This successful collaboration will most certainly strengthen the ties between the two institutions bearing Ferenc Liszt's name even further. Tibor Csuhaj-Barna wrote as much in his report on jazzma.hu, which you can read if you click here.
