Magyarország, ahol ma is alig élnek többen tízmilliónál, annyi muzsikust és oly sok kiváló zeneművet adott a világnak. Hálás vagyok, hogy ott születtem, és ott tanulhattam.

Ahn Eak Tai, composer of the National Anthem of Korea, famous music composer, conductor and cellist was born in 1906. He visited Hungary in 1936 the first time, when he met Béla Bartók and Dohnányi Ernő. This meeting played a big role in his musical life; he could further develop his musical talent at Academy of Music in Hungary in the period of 1939-40 based on a two-year scholarship by the Hungarian government. At the memorial concert to celebrate his 110th anniversary of birth and 80th years of their meetings, we will hear Ahn Eak Tai’s most important work, Korean Fantasy and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra performed by Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok and Budapest Academic Choral Society under the baton of Gábor Hollerung. Also, Dohnányi’s Cello Concerto Op. 12 will be jointly played by Korean cellist Mun Taeguk, the 1st prize winner of 2014 Pablo Casals International Cello Competition in Budapest. Memorial concert is jointly organized by Hungary-Korea Society and the Korea Cultural Center and could be realized by the generous donation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea and the National Cultural Fund attached to the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary.
